Bringing plant practice and product engineering together. Nordlicht connects hands-on plant cultivation with your technical product expertise. Potential outcomes include an application dossier, a documented practical report or a system concept — individually agreed and independently developed.
You bring the product and the question. Nordlicht assesses technical suitability, practical feasibility and available capacity before any project is agreed.
From a technical question to an agreed deliverable
We combine hands-on plant cultivation, continuous market and product research, and direct dialogue with manufacturers. The project formats below put this work to use for your application. We agree the question, deliverables, schedule and commercial terms together before work begins.
01 · Possible project format
Product & application analysis
Identify suitable application areas, crops, operating conditions, product limitations and the additional components required for a working solution.
Possible deliverableAn application dossier covering intended use, operating requirements, limitations and outstanding technical questions.
02 · Possible project format
Practical trials & documentation
Investigate a specific question within Nordlicht’s available practical growing environment. Where feasible, record the setup, growing conditions, observations, workload and practical limitations.
Possible deliverableA factual practical report describing the method, observations and limits of the findings. This is not an accredited laboratory test or a certification service.
03 · Possible project format
System concepts & integration
Consider how suitable planters, irrigation, lighting, climate equipment and sensors work together within a particular planting application. Existing, safe and suitable components are considered first.
Possible deliverableA system sketch, component list and guidance on operation, monitoring and maintenance.
04 · Possible project format
Application guidance & project collaboration
Translate product information into clear, technically grounded application guidance. Potential project, referral or distribution arrangements are discussed separately.
Possible deliverableTechnical application guidance or an agreed project concept. A favourable review or recommendation is never a contracted advertising outcome.
What manufacturers and Nordlicht can achieve together
We continuously research markets, manufacturers and products, connecting technical documentation with practical application questions. Our dialogue with manufacturers addresses operating conditions, alternatives and system integration. For development and market introduction topics, we offer project-specific practical feedback with a clear question and documented findings.
Good applications bring different areas of expertise together. Manufacturers understand how their products are developed and what the technology can do. Nordlicht considers plants, the site, everyday use and existing equipment as one connected system. Together, we can explore useful additions and how a solution works in practice.
Manufacturers contribute
Experience in product development and manufacturing

Ideas for new applications
Nordlicht contributes
Plant knowledge and practical experience
An understanding of specific user needs
Planning and integration of different systems
Practical observations and clearly documented feedback
Own growing environments and setups as a limited practical framework
Areas of interest include irrigation, maintenance workload and time away, propagation, root space, grow lighting, greenhouse climate, sensors, plant protection, soil and substrates, premium planters and overwintering. Technical integration connects these topics with the requirements of each site.
Working together may lead to new application examples, practical projects, educational content or suitable sales channels. It helps to translate technical features into clear decisions: Which plants are suitable? What makes care and operation easier? Which components work well together?
These four possibilities offer different starting points. A collaboration does not need to cover all four areas: even a technical conversation can open up useful new perspectives.
01
Getting to know each other
Introduce your developments, experience and possible applications. Nordlicht brings questions from plant care and advisory work. Product information, technical data or a conversation can be a useful starting point for getting to know the idea and the people behind it.
02
Discovering applications
Together, we look at where a product can be useful or combined with other components. Plant choice, the site, existing technology, operation and maintenance help us identify suitable applications. We include parts of a system that already work well in the planning.
03
Practical projects and experience
Where there is a useful question to explore, we can arrange trial equipment, application examples and documented projects. We agree on what to observe and, depending on the project, record the setup, growing conditions, effort and experience clearly. Practical feedback can reveal which adjustments or additional information would help users.
04
Offering solutions together
Where the technical and commercial fit is right, collaboration can lead to projects, supply arrangements or referrals. Customers may purchase a suitable product directly from the manufacturer or a specialist retailer; supply through Nordlicht is also possible under a separate agreement. We agree on the appropriate route and each party’s responsibilities together.
Application examples
These examples show how products, plant knowledge and complementary technology can work together. They are starting points for shared questions and ideas.
Premium planters
A well-made planter can offer new possibilities when combined with suitable plants, enough root space and the right substrate. Added irrigation can make care easier. Together, we consider how design, site and maintenance fit together, especially where daily watering would be difficult.
Irrigation
An irrigation product delivers its benefits through its interaction with the crop, water source, pot size and pipe layout. Planning also accounts for time away and existing equipment. This helps us explore combinations that supply the planting appropriately and are straightforward to use day to day.
Grow lighting
Plant knowledge helps match a light to the right application: plant species, growing area, light levels and lighting duration belong together. Heat output and electricity use also matter. Combined with suitable containers or propagation equipment, this can open up possibilities for places with little natural light.
Propagation
Germination and later growing stages have different requirements for light, moisture, air exchange and root space. Coordinating propagation containers, lighting and irrigation lets us work through suitable growing routines together. Ease of use and the transition to the next growing stage are part of the picture.
From an enquiry to an agreed project
Introduce the product and questionDescribe the intended use and the practical or technical question to be explored.
Assess suitability and capacityNordlicht checks the subject, available growing environment and timing.
Agree scope and termsDefine the question, method, deliverables, responsibilities, resources and commercial terms before work begins.
Carry out the agreed projectDocument the setup, conditions, observations and practical limitations.
Review findings and next stepsExplain the limits of the findings and separately agree any publication or further collaboration.
Project terms are agreed before work begins
Where relevant, an agreement should cover trial equipment or loans, materials, fees, shipping, returns, use of collected data, publication rights and advertising disclosures. Sales channels and other services are agreed separately. Sending a product does not, by itself, establish a paid assignment, testing agreement or obligation to publish.
Payment compensates agreed work, not a positive outcome. Manufacturer contacts, product samples, loan equipment, trial arrangements and affiliate relationships do not buy favourable recommendations.
Existing practical work — with clear context
These reports document our own plant cultivation and technical applications: real setups, growing conditions, observations and insights for further system development.
Nordlicht assesses products according to their value for each application. Practical trials, supplied products and commercial collaborations are explained transparently and disclosed in the relevant content. Recommendations are based on suitability, rather than on a business relationship alone.
Tell us about your product or project idea.
Would you like to contribute practical specialist services to customer projects? Please visit our specialist partner network (German). For products, developments and shared application ideas, use the manufacturer form below.
Introduce your product, a technical development, your experience or a project idea. A brief description is enough to start. What are you working on, which applications do you have in mind and what would you like to discuss with Nordlicht? You are welcome to link to existing product information.
Let’s agree on any product shipment together first. That way, we can clarify which question would benefit from a practical project and which sample or trial equipment would be suitable.
